Flash & ActionScript3Summary: Custom Wordpress Theme including a shop
Description: This site was built in Wordpress for an emerging coffee brand Merito Espresso (they produce really great coffee.)
I designed and built the site which features a blog on the home page and a dynamic shop. The design was influenced by the existing branding of the coffee label, with the Brown paper and bright red.
The shop is supported by Paypal and the client has the ability to add and edit products at their leisure.

Summary: Custom Wordpress theme
Description: The site was beautifully designed by The Common Room for Suppremo Hospitality Solutions.
I took their design and built it in HTML/CSS then developed it into a custom Wordpress theme. All major content on the site is editable via the CMS. The site features a form in which job seekers can fill in and upload their CV.
jQuery and Ajax were used to enhance the sites functionality. Using Pods UI I was also able to customize the back-end making it very simple and easy to use.

Summary: Website for Auckland's Big Day Out 2010
Description: This site was built for our first graded assesment. The brief was to design and build a website for the Big Day Out using XHTML/CSS and Javascript/jQuery. We also had to create the brand, developing a logo and branding document.
Influenced by popular culture and past year's Big Day Out brands I decided to take a fresh perspective of the Circus theme. Through textures, colour palette and imagery I created a grungy/vintage flavour. The site is very easy to navigate and all information is displayed clearly while remaining interesting and edgy.
For the logo I used a grungy Rossette and the brand font. Keeping it
black and white helps it to appear bold and draws the audience's eye. The gallery features a customized light box and allows the user to choose which year they would like to browse by.

Summary: Museum kiosk for Children
Description: The brief for this assessment was to design and build an interactive and educational Kiosk for children between the ages of 5 and 10. The Kiosk was to fit into the Auckland Museum and be built with ActionScript 3. Inspired by the Kai to Pie exhibition I chose to focus on an Iconic part of New Zealand's history - Edmonds.
The interface is presented by a sterotypical 'Grandmother' who leads the children through a range of activities including going shopping, reading a book, baking a cake and searching through a museum. It educates the user on the history of the company as well as its relevance to us today. At the end of the journey the child will receive a certificate which they can print and keep.
The over-all look and feel of the kiosk is clean and colourful to appeal to the target audience. A series of sound effects is also used to create interest and add to the user experience.

Summary: Website for IT company MyTech
Description: This site was built for an IT company called 'MyTech'. MyTech wanted a very clean and simple site which promoted the company on a level that would relate to the everyday business man and woman. It was important to them that the site was really accessible to update and that the site generated business.
The site is built in Wordpress using only Posts, Pages and Categories. This allows the client to update the site anytime using the Wordpress iPhone application. I have also set up the news articles so they can be posted on the site via email. The site design is very clean and to help generate business there is a 'call to action' on every page.
Lastly I have made the site compatible with smaller devices. So when somebody visits the site using a smaller browser (for example an iPhone) they well be presented with a simpler and lighter version of the site.

Summary: A project built as part of the 2010 yMedia Challenge
Description: along with three of my classmates I took part in the 2010 yMedia Challenge. As a team we were matched up with a non-profit organization, ECPAT, and were given 8 weeks to complete a project for them. ECPAT asked us to build and help promote a website that would teach children how to be safe online.
We achieved this by creating a fictional world complete with it's own set of characters. The characters lead the children through a series of multiple choice questions, educating them on how to make the right decisions while playing online. The game is built with flash while the rest of the site is built in XHTML and editable through 'surreal CMS'. The eight weeks were documented through a tumblr blog.
My primary part in this project was design.

Summary: Logo, branding and Custom Wordpress Theme.
Description: To start this project I designed the company logo and branding, taking influence from the tree they are named after and the sea-side surroundings of their office.
I then designed the straight forward 4-page site, and turned that design into a custom Wordpress theme.
As part of the project I also designed and printed some business cards, and assisted with the copy on the site.

This site was built for Dominion Breweries, for the launch a new Product Johnny Arrow.
I worked on this project with a collective formed earlier in the year, T6. We came together through the 2010 yMedia Challenge. After the success of our project completed in the challenge we were approached to work on this site.
My roles on this project were varied but I had a part in the design and front-end development.

Summary: A Wordpress site for artist Damon Soule
Description: This site was one of the first sites created during the Digital Media course. The brief was to design and build a website for a living artist, I chose Damon Soule. we built the site first in XHTML and then later on in the course converted it into Wordpress.
I really enjoy Damon's work and used elements of his pieces to illustrate and brand the site. In recent years his work has supported bold colours and geometric patterns. I reflected this through the typography and other details of the site.
The gallery is managed through the CMS and uses a jQuery plug-in to display the artwork. The artist is able to create new galleries and add new pieces to the existing ones.
